Common Goal & Football For Future have teamed up to create the Climate Champions Community to ramp up football's work towards a sustainable future.

The Climate Champions programme includes a series of workshops and trainings around climate awareness and action, and follows an initial climate change crash course which focused on football's link to climate change.

Bart Vriends (Sparta Rotterdam), Elin Landström (AS Roma), Jane Ross (Rangers), Tessel Middag (Rangers), Jessie Fleming (Chelsea), Lotte Wubben-Moy (Arsenal), Maël Corboz (SC Verl) and Sofie Junge Pedersen (Juventus) have all signed up to continue their education and work together to limit football's impact on the climate.

“This feels special,” said Sofie Junge Pedersen. “If we use our platforms correctly as individuals and a collective, it could be a game changer.”

Tessel Middag added: “Being part of the Climate Champions group has been so empowering. For a long time, I’ve been interested in using my platform as a footballer to take climate action but did not know how best to do so.

"Collaborating with other players and experts from Football For Future has sparked many new ideas and helped me feel more confident in my journey.”

The Climate Champions group will link up with Football For Future every month for further support when it comes to highlighting issues and putting plans in place to help football reduce its impact on the planet.

“It's been an inspiring experience not only partnering with Common Goal on our Climate Champions community but also being able to work with so many climate-conscious players in one place,” said Elliot Arthur-Worsop, founder of Football For Future.

“The conversations have been enlightening and it is a privilege to explore this journey together as we collectively strive to learn more and drive climate impact. I have a really special feeling that this is the start of something quite big."
