The Premier League has long celebrated the goalscorers with the Golden Boot and, more recently, the ability of those to set their teammates up with the Playmaker award. For goalkeepers, the Golden Glove is the esteemed individual prize handed out at the end of each Premier League season (since 2004/05).

The award doesn't denote the 'best' goalkeeper as such, but it rewards those that fulfil their ultimate function with the greatest efficacy: to prevent the other team from scoring. It's given to the keeper with the most clean sheets that season.

Here's how the 2022/23 Premier League Golden Glove race ended.

Final 2022/23 Premier League Golden Glove standings

1. David de Gea (Manchester United)

Appearances: 38
Clean sheets: 17

De Gea has continued to garner his fair share of criticism, but Erik ten Hag stuck by the Spaniard and he subsequently won his second Golden Glove. However, whether he's United's goalkeeper for the future is up for debate.

2. Alisson (Liverpool)

Appearances: 37
Clean sheets: 14

Alisson was far and away Liverpool's standout performer in 2022/23, and his 14 clean sheets given just how porous the Reds were at times is a mightily impressive tally.

3. Nick Pope (Newcastle)

Appearances: 37
Clean sheets: 14

Despite the odd hairy moment, Pope has been as steady as they come since joining Newcastle from Burnley and he's proved particularly popular among the FPL community. The bright lights of the Champions League beckon for the England international.

4. Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal)

Appearances: 38
Clean sheets: 14

Ramsdale set a Premier League record with ten away clean sheets, but his inability to keep the opposition out at the Emirates meant he didn't trouble De Gea at the top. William Saliba's injury certainly hindered his chances of claiming his maiden Golden Glove.

5. David Raya (Brentford)

Appearances: 38
Clean sheets: 12

Raya has impressed many since Brentford's rise to the Premier League, and he now seems destined to move on this summer. The Spaniard will have plenty of suitors, with Tottenham surely being left impressed by his performance in north London at the end of the season.

6. Jose Sa (Wolves)

Appearances: 36
Clean sheets: 11

The towering Wolves goalkeeper enjoyed yet another fine season amid his side's indifference. He ended the campaign with 11 clean sheets in 36 appearances.

7. Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa)

Clean sheets: 11

Martinez's work with Villa paled in comparison to his exploits out in Qatar midway through the season as he helped Argentina to World Cup glory.

8. Ederson (Manchester City)

Appearances: 35
Clean sheets: 11

Ederson didn't win his fourth Golden Glove in 2022/23, but his fifth Premier League winner's medal was a pretty neat consolation prize.

9. Kepa Arrizabalaga (Chelsea)

Appearances: 28
Clean sheets: 9

Kepa won back his starting job from Edouard Mendy, but he certainly didn't do enough to convince anybody that he'll be Chelsea's number one under the new regime.
