FIFA president Gianni Infantino attends Millwall vs Norwich

FIFA president Gianni Infantino was a surprise guest at The Den for Millwall's Championship clash with Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

The controversial Italian has been in London this week to attend an International Football Association Board (IFAB) conference in which he ran the rule over a number of proposed law changes.

One hot topic has been the discussion of an in-game clock which stops when the ball is out of play in an attempt to clamp down on time-wasting.

Infantino said this week: "It has been widely appreciated by everyone. We want to fight against time-wasting, we want the fans to enjoy the game. We have to ensure that also the application of the laws of the game are universal. We will monitor leagues all over the world' to ensure proper stoppage time is played, I don't think there is any coercive measure to be taken."

After wrapping up his work at the Marriott Hotel County Hall, Infantino chose to spend his Saturday watching football elsewhere in London.

Despite Premier League offerings at Arsenal, who completed a stunning comeback against Bournemouth, and Chelsea, who eased the pressure on Graham Potter with a win against Leeds, Infantino decided to attend a game south of the river and a tier below the top flight.

He was spotted at The Den in Bermondsey, where Millwall were defeated 3-2 by Norwich in a battle of two teams striving to reach the play-offs.

Tom Bradshaw's early opener for the hosts was canceled out by Jacob Sorensen before half-time, and Millwall's goalscorer put the Canaries in front after firing into his own net.

Gabriel Sara added a third for Norwich, with Zian Flemming pulling one back late on for Millwall.
