EA Sports have put in plenty of work behind the scenes to make FIFA 23 the most realistic and entertaining game in series history.

From gameplay adjustments, to all-new HyperMotion2 technology and additions to popular game modes, there are plenty of reasons for fans to be excited about the latest release.

Here are six new features you need to know about.

1. The AcceleRATE system

With modernised HyperMotion2 technology, FIFA 23 offers the most realistic player movement and dribbling mechanics, and a large part of that has been the creation of the new AcceleRATE system. Players fall into three different categories: Controlled, Explosive and Lengthy.

The majority of players have the Controlled archetype, which will see players reach their top speed at a gradual pace, whereas the Explosive players will accelerate faster than the rest.

Lengthy players, on the other hand, are the taller players who tend to take a little longer to reach their maximum speed, but once they get there, they are capable of maintaining it as they go charging down the pitch. Make sure to try out all three because you can really tell the difference.

2. FUT Moments

A brand new game mode to FIFA 23, FUT Moments is a single-player mode in Ultimate Team to give players a new way to earn packs and other items.

FUT Moments focuses on short scenarios with plenty of different challenges which, if defeated, will reward players with FUT Stars, which can be exchanged for prizes in the Moments Star Gallery.

Some are based on topical themes, while others are actual events from history, giving players the chance to replicate some of football’s most iconic moments.

3. World Cup game modes

To celebrate the upcoming global showpieces, FIFA 23 will feature game modes for both the 2022 World Cup and 2023 Women’s World Cup.

Released closer to the dates of each individual tournament at no additional cost, players will get the chance to lead their own nations to glory.

Previous World Cup updates have been among the best in FIFA history and players are eagerly awaiting the two upcoming releases.

4. Power Shots

The latest addition to the different types of shots in FIFA 23 is Power Shooting. Unsurprisingly, it’s like normal shooting, but more powerful.

They take a little longer to pull off than the normal shooting animation, but these new shots offer a new approach to goalscoring that we haven’t seen in previous iterations of the game.

Ideal for strikers who are struggling up against quick defenders, the Power Shot gives the game’s deadliest finishers yet another way to find the back of the net.

5. Advanced Impact Physics

Deflections and blocks now have more realistic outcomes thanks to FIFA 23’s Advanced Impact Physics.

Arms, legs, hands, heads and fingers all have different animations designed to mirror the real-life impact of deflections, with the speed and power of the ball also playing a part in dictating the severity of the ricochet.

Authenticity is the key to the new Advanced Impact Physics, which only add to the updated feel of the game.

6. AI Tactical Awareness

One of the most important things you need to be aware of in FIFA 23 is the new AI Tactical Awareness.

AI opponents have received tactical enhancements to improve their response to in-game situations, such as the time left on the clock and the score at any given time.

Managers will also consider the impact of individual substitutions and can change formations and playing style during the games to try and secure a result.
