FC Cincinnati are finalizing a trade for Philadelphia Union forward Sergio Santos, 90min sources confirm.

Santos joined the Union from Chilean side Audax Italiano in 2019 and has since made 89 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 22 goals and providing 13 assists. The Brazilian forward was part of the Philadelphia Union side that won the Supporters' Shield in 2020; the club's first-ever piece of major silverware.

First reported by the Cincinnati enquirer's Pat Brennan, league sources have confirmed to 90min that FC Cincinnati are working to finalize a trade to bring Santos to TQL Stadium in exchange for General Allocation Money (GAM).

Cincy head coach Pat Noonan worked with Santos during his time as Jim Curtin's assistant at the Union, while general manager Chris Albright joined following a spell as Philadelphia's technical director.

Should the club get their deal for Santos over the line, the 27-year-old will join the likes of Alvas Powell and Raymon Gaddis to join Cincinnati during the course of the 2022 season following spells with the Union.

Santos has struggled for regular starts this season following the Union's signings of Julian Carranza and Mikael Uhre and has been unavailable recently while attempting to obtain his green card. He'll compete for minutes in Cincinnati with Brandon Vazquez and Brenner, who have scored a combined 13 MLS goals so far this season, as well as Dom Badji.
