Fan in serious condition after falling from Wembley stand during England vs Croatia
A spectator is in a serious condition after falling from a stand at Wembley Stadium during England's Euro 2020 game against Croatia on Sunday afternoon.
The incident is understood to have taken place just after kick off at around 2pm. It did not lead to a delay in the on-field action.
A stadium spokesperson told Sky Sports: "We can confirm that a spectator fell from the stands just after kick off in the match between England and Croatia at Wembley Stadium.
"The spectator was given on-site medical attention and was then taken to hospital in a serious condition. We will continue to work with UEFA to ensure the matter is fully investigated and we are continuing to monitor the situation."
A spokesperson for Uefa added: "[We] can confirm that a spectator fell from the stands and was taken to hospital in a serious condition."
Wembley is set to stage a raft of other games at Euro 2020, including both of England's remaining group matches against Scotland and the Czech Republic. It is also hosting a round of 16 tie, as well as both semi-finals and the final on 11 July.
The game itself ended 1-0 to England. Raheem Sterling scored the only goal - his first in a major tournament for the Three Lions - after Phil Foden had slammed an effort onto the post early on. Gareth Southgate's side were good value for their win and will now be confident of progressing through the group as winners.
