The first round of the FA Cup is upon us and that means a host of fascinating matches will be played up and down England and Wales across the weekend, featuring teams from multiple levels.

England's oldest and most exciting competition will be mixing all levels of the football pyramid by the time the third round comes along, but a lot of teams will have two games to navigate their way through before the Premier League and Championship sides arrive.

What FA Cup first round games are on TV?

Across the weekend, five different games will be shown on TV in the UK. Hereford v Portsmouth will be shown on Friday night and then the Saturday match on TV will see South Shields host Forest Green Rovers.

As they are garnering plenty of attention under their Hollywood ownership, Wrexham's match against Oldham Athletic will also be on TV on Sunday, followed by Torquay United v Derby County.

The coverage is rounded off with Bracknell Town v Ipswich Town on Monday night.

FA Cup first round predictions

Of the televised games, the biggest cupset could come on Friday night when Hereford host Portsmouth. League One play-off hopefuls Pompey are the heavy favourites to beat their 14th-placed National League North hosts.

South Shields vs Forest Green Rovers gets Saturday's FA Cup coverage underway nice and early in a potentially dodgy game for the visitors. South Shields want promotion from the Northern Premier Division, sitting fifth, while Forest Green are winless in their last three games.

Here are our picks to make it into the second round:

Sheffield Wednesday, Bradford City, Bolton Wanderers, Gillingham, Barnet, Barrow, Bristol Rovers, Burton Albion, Buxton, Tranmere Rovers, Charlton Athletic, Cheltenham Town, Lincoln City, Crawley Town, Leyton Orient, Doncaster Rovers, Ebbsfleet United, Fleetwood Town, Gateshead, Plymouth Argyle, Dagenham & Redbridge, MK Dons, Newport County, Peterborough United, Port Vale, Shrewsbury Town, Hartlepool United, Swindon Town, Sutton United, AFC Wimbledon, Wycombe Wanderers, Cambridge Town, Oxford United.

When is the FA Cup second round draw?
