The Football Association has confirmed Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte have been charged for improper conduct in the 2-2 draw between Chelsea and Tottenham on Sunday.

The pair came to blows during the fiery contest and had to be separated at full time when a handshake turned into a squaring off match.

The FA's statement reads: "Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte have both been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3, following the Premier League fixture between Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC on Sunday 14 August 2022.

"It is alleged that the behaviour of both managers was improper following the end of the fixture.

"Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte have until Thursday 18 August 2022 to provide their respective responses."

Tempers flared initially when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg made it 1-1, with Chelsea asking for both a foul on Kai Havertz and an offside against Richarlison, and Tuchel sprinted past the Spurs dugout when Reece James put the hosts ahead again.

Harry Kane's 96th-minute equaliser saw the points shared before Tuchel and Conte shared their angry embrace at the full-time whistle.

The pair both seemed to make light of the incident in their post-match comments, though Conte later posted a story on his Instagram account with the caption: "Lucky I didn't see you...making you trip over would have been well deserved...😂😂😂"

Spurs are next in action when they host Wolves on Saturday, while Chelsea visit Leeds a day later.
