Leicester continued their upturn in form with an impressive 2-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday evening.

The game began at a frantic pace, with Patson Daka and Alex Iwobi going close for their respective sides in the opening five minutes.

Leicester were keen to press Everton and put their backline under pressure, generating chances but also leaving them susceptible to counter-attacks, which the Toffees frequently sought to exploit.

As the first half wore on, it was the Foxes who continued to grow in stature, racking up 15 chances but failing to capitalise as their finishing was continuously wayward.

It was the kind of half that needed a moment of real quality in order to break the deadlock, and Youri Tielemans stepped up to deliver that moment shortly before half-time with a stunning half-volley from outside the box.

The Belgian started and finished the move, winning possession back for Leicester before getting up the pitch and sending a looping shot over Jordan Pickford to make it 1-0.

Everton looked the brighter of the two teams early in the second half, but almost found themselves two goals behind shortly before the hour mark when James Maddison struck the post.

Maddison is still hoping to be part of England's World Cup squad this month and will have done his chances no harm with this performance. The midfielder was at the heart of everything good his side did, spraying passes about with ease and coming close to scoring himself on more than one occasion.

Everton showed little sign of getting back into the game as time wore on, and Leicester deservedly got a second goal in the dying embers of the match when Maddison teed up Harvey Barnes to turn and fire home inside the penalty area.

The result sends Leicester up to 13th, their shocking start to the season quickly fading into the distance.

Everton, meanwhile, drop below their opponents.
