Erling Haaland has revealed that he didn’t need Pep Guardiola or anyone else to ‘sell’ Manchester City to him when he was picking his next club at the end of last season.

Haaland was the subject of interest from a host of Europe’s top clubs – particular Real Madrid and Barcelona – but City won the race early and the Norwegian has already two Premier League goals in as many games for his new team.

When it came to the choice, Haaland told FourFourTwo, “Pep didn’t have to sell the club to me, that’s for sure. He didn’t have to sell anything.

“For starters, he’s a special trainer and that was so important to me. We all know what he has done for his clubs, but also for players and for the game in general. That’s something I want to be part of. I think we can have a lot of fun together.”

He added, “The facilities around us, the staff, the people around the club, it’s a huge organisation. It’s a very professional club, it does everything in a good way to help the players which I really like.”

Having drawn a blank on his competitive debut at the Etihad Stadium last weekend, Haaland will have the opportunity to increase his goal tally on a trip to Newcastle on Sunday.
