Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Marcus Rashford has recovered from injury, but a fresh illness could prevent the England international from returning against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Rashford, who leads United's scoring charts with 16 Premier League goals this season, missed the recent win over Wolves through injury but was spotted back in training earlier this week, so it seemed as though the 25-year-old would be back in action this weekend.

However, Ten Hag has now revealed that a sickness bug could delay Rashford's comeback.

"Rashy trained well the whole week but today he reported that he is ill. We have to see how he recovers during the day and see tomorrow," Ten Hag told the media ahead of the Premier League clash.

The Dutch manager also gave an update on the rest of the squad, adding: "So a positive, [Raphael] Varane is definitely available. Scott [McTominay] joined in training. When we find how well he does in training, then we know if he will be in."

United head to Bournemouth aiming to regain their four-point lead over Liverpool in the race for Champions League qualification. The Red Devils have 66 points from 35 matches played, while Liverpool have earned 65 points from 36 matches.

Ten Hag also spoke about Phil Jones after the club announced the 31-year-old would leave the club this summer.

"I think he has [had] a great career, what he achieved, winning the Premier League, winning the FA Cup, winning the Europa League, being present at two World Cups, a massive career at Man Utd. So, all the credit for his career."
