Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has discussed his relationship with club legend Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ten Hag is now the subject of universal adoration at Old Trafford having overcome a concerning start to his career in England when he became the first United manager in more than a century to lose both of his first two games in charge.

The Dutchman's blend of discipline and free-flowing football, as well as resurrecting the careers of the likes of Marcus Rashford, has appealed to United fans.

The Red Devils can end a memorable week in which they have already knocked Barcelona out of the Europa League by winning the Carabao Cup, taking on Newcastle in the final at Wembley on Sunday afternoon and ending a six-year trophy drought in the process.

Ten Hag was pictured at the start of the week having dinner with Ferguson, and he was asked by Sky Sports what the best message he's received from the former manager has been.

"He is by doing [instead of using words]. I think he left a legacy and that is Manchester United stands for winning and a winning culture," he said.

"I think he's such a great example for all of us, for humanity, but for all of us around and in Manchester United, he's such a big example and we hope that we can make him proud on Sunday."

Ten Hag was then asked if he would be having dinner with Ferguson again anytime soon, replying: "We unfortunately don't have time for that because the time is too short."

On this week's edition of TFP, Chelsea legend Joe Cole joins Harry Symeou, Grizz Khan, Scott Saunders and Hunter Godson to discuss all the UEFA Champions League action from midweek, as well as look ahead to this weekend's biggest fixtures. If you can't see this embed, clickhereto watch the video!
