Erik ten Hag is taking the Manchester United players through training drills that focus on improving their weaker feet.

The Mail reports the Dutchman was disappointed to discover a lack of naturally left-footed players within the Man Utd squad when he arrived from Ajax this summer. He addressed that with the arrivals of Tyrell Malacia, Antony and Lisandro Martinez.

However, he is said to be still unhappy with the over-reliance of many players on their strongest foot. It is not just the right-footed players he is targeting for improvement either, with England left-back Luke Shaw among those Ten Hag is most concerned about.

It serves as further evidence of the Manchester United hierarchy backing Ten Hag to revolutionise the methods and standards at the club. The training has increased in intensity and the specific drills designed to increase players’ weaker foot are happening after the main sessions have been completed.

Man Utd started the Premier League season horrendously as they lost their first two games under Erik Ten Hag against Brighton and Brentford. Their form has significantly improved since then, with the Red Devils stringing together four successive wins following that Brentford debacle.

A 1-0 home defeat to Real Sociedad in the Europa League was a timely reminder that there is a lot of work still to be done, though.
