Erik ten Hag has hailed the 'winning attitude' that Casemiro and Raphael Varane have brought to Manchester United.

The pair were once again instrumental as Manchester United lifted the 2022/23 Carabao Cup, with Casemiro opening the scoring in the eventual 2-0 win.

Discussing the influence veteran players like Casemiro, Raphael Varane and David de Gea have on his team with Sky Sports, Ten Hag said: "Varane, Casemiro, De Gea, they know how to win trophies.

"You need players like that on the pitch to point the team, to coach the team, to organise the team. Not only from a tactical perspective but from a mental perspective as well. It's so important. The winning attitude is what they bring into the dressing room and bring it into the team."

When told that players during interviews have said that they're already thinking about winning more trophies, Ten Hag replied:

"Yeah but first you have to win the first one, and that is what we did today. I think you get a lot of inspiration from this and also more confidence that we can do it [win more trophies].

"I think we are still at the start [of a project to] restore Man Utd to where they belong and that is to win trophies. This is the first one.

"They are a good and connected with each other and they also challenge each other as well. That is a good dressing room. In difficult moments they help each other too and that's great to see.

"The staff have done a great job with the players. The staff and players are together."
