Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed that Sunday's Carabao Cup final will be his first visit to Wembley Stadium.

The Red Devils take on Newcastle in a battle for the season's first piece of silverware, with United looking to win their first trophy since 2017 and end a trophy drought of six years.

Ten Hag has overcome a rocky start in England to become a fan favourite at Old Trafford, and speaking ahead of Sunday's showdown, he admitted that this will be his first trip to one of football's most iconic stadiums.

Firstly speaking to United's club channels, he said: "I've seen so many games [there] on television but I have never been, I've never had the pleasure to have been, so Sunday is the first time and I'm really looking forward to it."

On this week's edition of TFP, Chelsea legend Joe Cole joins Harry Symeou, Grizz Khan, Scott Saunders and Hunter Godson to discuss all the UEFA Champions League action from midweek, as well as look ahead to this weekend's biggest fixtures. If you can't see this embed, clickhereto watch the video!

In another interview with Sky Sports, Ten Hag added: "It's a great moment I to go to Wembley, I think. It's a real theatre to play a game, to play a final. It's really exciting to go there. And of course if you go there, you want to win and it's a big day for us.

"Yeah, still as well [he gets excited over visiting new stadiums]. Every match gives excitement, of course there are differences between them. And so I had the experience now to go to a different league and that is great.

"To get experience of a different culture and different stadiums that is great to have that in your life and it makes life exciting. So Sunday, I'm really looking forward to going to the stadium. It's so well known, but I only know it from television. Sunday I have to experience it for myself and I'm really looking forward to it."

When asked for his favourite memory of Wembley, Ten Hag replied: "I think it was one, probably the Dutch national team against England. Huge games are always played there. I have seen also many FA Cups. I remember from my childhood that I always watched the FA Cup final so I have seen many of them."
