After months of speculation, it's now finally official: Erik ten Hag will take charge of Manchester United in the summer.

The current Ajax manager has signed a deal until June 2025 with the Red Devils - with an option for a further year at Old Trafford - and is set to take on the mammoth task of making Man Utd genuine title contenders once again.

Speaking to his new club's official website after the announcement, Ten Hag said: “It is a great honour to be appointed manager of Manchester United and I am hugely excited by the challenge ahead. I know the history of this great club and the passion of the fans, and I am absolutely determined to develop a team capable of delivering the success they deserve.

“It will be difficult to leave Ajax after these incredible years, and I can assure our fans of my complete commitment and focus on bringing this season to a successful conclusion before I move to Manchester United.”

Ten Hag has enjoyed a trophy-laden time at Ajax, winning two Eredivisie titles, two KNVB Cups and even taking De Godenzonen to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019.

Ajax are currently sitting pretty at the top of the Eredivisie - four points clear of PSV Eindhoven - and speaking to the Dutch club's official website, Ten Hag was keen to point out that clarity over his personal future will be a good thing for his current side.

"I am happy that it has been finalised and that it has been officially announced," he said. "That clarity is important. But I only have one interest now and those are the last five games. I want to finish in a nice way, so with the championship.

"With the title, we qualify directly for the Champions League, which is where Ajax belongs."

90min can confirm that Ten Hag won't be the only man leaving Ajax for Man Utd this summer, as Mitchell van der Gaag is set to follow him to become his assistant manager too.
