Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag hopes Casemiro's debut for the club has provided the midfielder with an early insight into the Premier League.

The Brazilian replaced Anthony Elanga with 11 minutes remaining in United's 1-0 away victory at Southampton as the Red Devils made it back-to-back victories. And Ten Hag says he was pleased to give Casemiro his first outing in United colours as he begins his adjustment to the Premier League.

"I think it was quite good for him to see what the Premier League is," said the Dutchman.

"It’s a different style, he has now a pre-season, he played some games, he played one time 90 minutes, but he is fit. He had a good pre-season with a lot of training sessions and now we have to integrate him in the team in a way of play and to integrate him with his teammates."

Ten Hag was also pleased that his players showed signs of improvement from their recent away disappointment in their 4-0 defeat to Brentford earlier this month, although he insists there is still a long way to go.

"I still feel there is room for improvement, to control more, but we are not that long in our way," added the United manager. "We can improve that is clear.

"It has to be the standard for Manchester United. It has to be normal but also you celebrate every win because you have to fight for it. We learnt from our lesson in Brentford."

Casemiro could be handed his first start under Ten Hag this midweek as United travel to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester in another Premier League clash.
