Two glaring defensive errors saw England Women lose 2-0 to Canada in the Lionesses' final fixture before interim coach Hege Riise names her Great Britain squad for the summer's Tokyo Olympics.

Riise made six changes from the side that lost to France but it was the visitors who took the lead with one of their first attacks of the game, as Demi Stokes dallied on the ball and allowed Evelyne Viens to nip in and fire home.

Returning goalkeeper Karen Bardsley failed to clear her lines late on and allowed Nichelle Prince to close her down practically on the line for Canada's second.

Lauren Hemp, Georgia Stanway and Jordan Nobbs were among those who impressed at Stoke's bet365 Stadium, but England failed to get on the scoresheet.

Let's get into the player ratings for the Lionesses.

ENGLAND WOMEN PLAYER RATINGS

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Carly Telford (GK) - 6/10 - Did well to tip Quinn's long range drive over. Brought off at half time.

Rachel Daly (RB) - 5/10 - A nice turn early on but not too much else to report. Featuring at right back doesn't seem to play to Daly's strengths. Brought off for Lucy Bronze.

Millie Bright (CB) - 6/10 - Led the Lionesses as captain for the first time. Partnership with Williamson is being persisted with by Riise in Steph Houghton's absence and it held up generally well.

Leah Williamson (CB) - 6/10 - Made an important interception very early on to stop Canada getting in.

Demi Stokes (LB) - 4/10 - Hasn't played much recently and that lack of sharpness showed early on as she allowed Viens to nip in front on her and score the opener. Came off after half an hour for Alex Greenwood in what was a pre planned change.

2. Midfielders

Georgia Stanway (CM) - 7/10 - Had a few pops from distance and made some decent defensive interventions and tackles. One of England's better performers.

Jordan Nobbs (CM) - 7/10 - Helped England come back into the game as she saw more of the ball and came close to equalising when she clattered a free kick onto the bar via keeper Stephanie Labbe's fingertips.

Fran Kirby (AM) - 5/10 - A few nice moments of link-up, particularly with Nobbs, but overall couldn't produce a performance similar in quality to the ones she has pulled out regularly for Chelsea this season and was withdrawn at half time.

3. Forwards

Nikita Parris (RW) - 5/10 - Got free down the right a few times but was often dealt with well by Canada's retreating defenders. Couldn't make much of an impact and was brought off for Ellen White.

Bethany England (ST) - 5/10 - Came close to equalising but couldn't quite turn a free kick in. Flicked a header on in the second half but didn't get enough power on it.

Lauren Hemp (LW) - 8/10 -
Was bright, particularly doing the early exchanges. Won England a few corners, completed some impressive dribbles and looked the most likely of England's attackers to make something happen in the final third. Created a chance by tackling and running into the box, but was denied by Gilles' recovering challenge.

4. Substitutes

Alex Greenwood - 5/10

Karen Bardsley - 3/10 - Came on for her first England appearance for 656 days. Flapped at a cross and needed Bronze to clean up for her. Wanted too much time to clear late on and allowed Nichelle Prince to tackle the ball over the line.

Ella Toone - 6/10 - Added some drive to England's midfield after her introduction.

Lucy Bronze - 6/10 - Stepped in to clear when Bardsley misjudged a ball forward. Some good clearances.

Chloe Kelly - 5/10

Ellen White - N/A
