The Lionesses are gearing up for their next challenge in the 2023 Women's World Cup as they prepare to face Denmark, likely to be their toughest opponent in Group D.

England managed to secure a narrow win over Haiti in their first game thanks to Georgia Stanway's re-taken first half penalty. However, the victory was less than convincing and the team appeared to lack creativity and sharpness. It was also a fourth successive match without scoring from open play - including a behind closed doors friendly against Canada.

Denmark, who are nine places below England in the FIFA women's rankings and at their first World Cup since 2007, recorded a late 1-0 victory over China last time out.

England team news

All 23 of players have taken part in training as normal ahead of the game, meaning that Sarina Wiegman will have a fully available team at her disposal.

However, whether she will change her starting XI from the one that narrowly beat Haiti - with Rachel Daly in particular pushing for a start ahead of Alessia Russo - is a big question that needs answering. Either Chloe Kelly or Ella Toone could also be under threat from Lauren James.

Denmark team news

No injury news has come out of the Danish camp and the Lionesses should expect to face a strong and fully fit team. Pernille Harder, Denmark's key player, will be central to how they play and move the ball going forward - she is, of course, well known to WSL audiences, as a former Chelsea star.

England vs Denmark score prediction

Based on the fact that neither team have fully found their stride in this tournament in front of goal, expect this to be a low-scoring affair.

Instead of goals, this key contest will likely be an intense tactical battle to see which team can dominate in midfield, and which side can overload the wide areas and stretch their opponents

England certainly have the edge with more quality players overall. But, at times, that doesn't matter at a World Cup and the Lionesses certainly have plenty still to prove.

Prediction: England 1-1 Denmark
