England Under-19s: Meet the 2022 European champions

For the second time in five years, England Under-19s are European champions.
Ian Foster's Young Lions came out on top against Israel in Friday's final as goals from Callum Doyle, Carney Chukwuemeka and Aaron Ramsey capped off a famous summer for England, who reclaimed the crown they first won back in 2017.
Let's take a closer look at the 2022 European champions.
Goalkeepers
1. Matthew Cox
Club: Brentford
19-year-old Cox was the starter for all but one of this summer's games, saving all 11 shots he faced before ultimately being breached by Italy in the semi-final.
He's yet to make his Brentford debut but has been included on the Bees' bench in both the Premier League and Carabao Cup.
2. Teddy Sharman-Lowe
Club: Chelsea
Sharman-Lowe joined Chelsea in January 2021 and was a regular for the Blues' development side last season.
He featured just once this tournament, keeping a clean sheet in the group stage clash against eventual finalists Israel.
Defenders
3. Ronnie Edwards
Club: Peterborough
Clubs up and down England have been keeping a very close eye on Edwards after his breakthrough season with Peterborough yielded 34 appearances.
The 19-year-old was excellent this summer, impressing with his composure on the ball and ability to lead by example from the back. His price tag will only have risen.
4. Callum Doyle
Club: Man City
Just as impressive at the back was 18-year-old Doyle, who had a busy final as he netted the equaliser, cleared a late shot off the line and played a major role in England's third goal as well.
An excellent passer, Doyle has just enjoyed an impressive loan spell with Sunderland and will now be looking for another step up this summer.
5. Jarell Quansah
Club: Liverpool
Local Liverpool lad Quansah, who has experience at both right-back and centre-back at academy level, was another who thoroughly impressed at this tournament.
A towering defender with a keen eye for a pass and love of getting forward, the 19-year-old is yet to see any senior action with Liverpool.
6. Bashir Humphreys
Club: Chelsea
Humphreys played two full 90s this summer, impressing in defence against Serbia before being used as a defensive midfielder in the group stage victory over Israel.
Injuries derailed Humphrey's 2021/22 season at club level but the teenager, who is superb with both feet, will be keen to push on this coming year.
7. Luke Chambers
Club: Liverpool
Used as cover for Doyle, Liverpool's Chambers managed one start and three appearances off the bench for England.
First-team assistant Pep Lijnders has publicly admitted he has been impressed with the left-back, who is expected to join up with Liverpool's seniors for pre-season.
8. Brooke Norton-Cuffy
Club: Arsenal
A marauding right-back who has just returned from an impressive loan spell with Lincoln City, the future looks bright for Arsenal youngster Norton-Cuffy.
The 18-year-old is set for another loan deal this summer as he looks to capitalise on the momentum built from his six-month spell towards the bottom of League One.
9. Daniel Oyegoke
Club: Brentford
Rotating with Norton-Cuffy at right-back was Brentford's Oyegoke, who has been a stand-out figure in academy football for a few years now.
A product of the Arsenal academy, Oyegoke joined Brentford in 2021 and was an unused substitute in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup last season.
Midfielders
10. Carney Chukwuemeka
Club: Aston Villa
Chukwuemeka's ability is no secret to English football. Once touted as the best in the country in his age group, the Villa midfielder lived up to that billing here.
The towering 18-year-old has turned out 16 times for Villa's first team and even has two Premier League starts to his name.
His three goals were enough for second place in the competition's scoring charts.
11. Tim Iroegbunam
Club: Aston Villa
Alongside Chukwuemeka, Iroegbunam has also made his breakthrough to the Villa senior side.
It was his introduction to the final which changed the game as Iroegbunam wrestled control of the match and allowed the likes of Chukwuemeka and his other creative teammates to steal the show.
12. Aaron Ramsey
Club: Aston Villa
Completing the Villa midfield trio is Ramsey, who is stepping out from the shadow of older brother Jacob and forming a nice career for himself at this early stage.
As a direct attacking midfielder who loves both goals and assists, Ramsey has been around the Villa first team in the past and will hope to see some minutes this coming season.
13. Alex Scott
Club: Bristol City
He only joined Bristol City from FC Guernsey in 2020, but Scott is already a regular for his first team.
Known to have attracted some significant interest because of his fantastic dribbling - comparisons to Jack Grealish are easy to understand - Scott managed four goals and two assists in the Championship last year.
14. Alfie Devine
Club: Tottenham
Comfortable nearly anywhere in midfield, Devine is a deadly attacking midfielder who bagged nine goals in 17 outings for Tottenham's development team last year.
He made his senior debut in the famous FA Cup tie with Marine in January 2021, getting on the scoresheet in what is his only appearance to date.
15. Harvey Vale
Club: Chelsea
A sumptuous assist from Vale to put England 2-1 up in the final was the perfect example of what he is all about. The Chelsea starlet has been tipped for bright things for both club and country, and it's not hard to see why.
He captained England to glory this summer, shortly after signing a new Chelsea contract to cap off a season which yielded five senior appearances under Thomas Tuchel. Not a bad year.
Forwards
16. Samuel Iling Jr
Club: Juventus
Iling Jr joined the growing number of English youngsters heading abroad when he swapped Chelsea for Juventus in 2020.
He's yet to make his debut for the senior side, but Iling Jr has been prolific when it comes to both goals and assist at youth level.
17. Jamie Bynoe-Gittens
Club: Borussia Dortmund
Following Jadon Sancho in swapping Man City for Dortmund in 2020, 17-year-old Bynoe-Gittens was an absolute menace for defenders this summer.
His electric pace and silky footwork saw him draw foul after foul against players two years his senior, highlighting just how comfortable he is playing in older age groups.
18. Liam Delap
Club: Man City
One of the better-known players among casual fans, Delap has been terrifyingly prolific at youth level for City and scored on his debut for Pep Guardiola's senior side in 2020.
He's a tall, powerful forward whose talents were on show as he came off the bench in the final to devastating effect, bullying through the Israel backline before setting up the third goal.
19. Daniel Jebbison
Club: Sheffield United
Jebbison famously scored on his first Premier League start for Sheffield United against Everton towards the end of the 2020/21 season and managed a handful of sporadic appearances in the Championship last year.
The Canada-born striker filled that backup role this summer as well, with his three appearances all coming off the bench.
20. Dane Scarlett
Club: Tottenham
Jose Mourinho tipped Tottenham youngster Scarlett to develop into a 'phenomenal' player for England further down the line, and he has flashed glimpses of living up to that potential.
The 18-year-old has scored a boatload of goals at youth level and caught the eye of Antonio Conte, who handed Scarlett a handful of minutes across last season.
