England's squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup has finally been announced, and it's fair to say it's caused a bit of controversy.

Plenty of England fans are happy to see the likes of Callum Wilson and James Maddison make the cut, but seemingly even more are bemused by the exclusion of Fikayo Tomori and Ivan Toney to name a few.

After whittling it down to 26 players, Southgate now needs to pick himself a starting XI for the tournament.

Here's how 90min think he will line his side up.

1. England (3-4-3)

GK - Jordan Pickford - The Everton number one has arguably been the best performer of Southgate's tenure as England manager. Nick Pope is currently the best option on form, but we doubt he's getting a look in ahead of Pickford.

CB - Kyle Walker - Having declared himself fit for the World Cup, Walker is a shoo-in to be a starter for the Three Lions. His recovery pace is essential to the way the country play.

CB - John Stones - Now firmly in favour at Man City once again, Stones is set to be key to England in Qatar.

CB - Harry Maguire - Yep. He will start. He has been absolutely terrible for about 18 months, but trust us, he will start.

RM - Kieran Trippier - With Reece James out injured and Trent Alexander-Arnold being out of favour, Trippier is going to get the nod. And rightly so too, he's been brilliant for Newcastle United this season.

CM - Declan Rice - One of the first names on Southgate's teamsheet.

CM - Jude Bellingham - Probably the most in-form player England have at their disposal right now. The youngster has been in inspired form at Borussia Dortmund.

LM - Luke Shaw - A goalscorer in the Euro 2020 final and undoubtedly a starter at the 2022 World Cup.

RW - Mason Mount - He's not been at his best this season, but the sheer shift he'll put in for his country may just see him squeeze into the starting lineup ahead of Bukayo Saka and James Maddison.

ST - Harry Kane - The England captain. The 2018 World Cup Golden Boot Winner. The best player the country has produced this decade. Of course Kane starts.

LW - Raheem Sterling - England's best performer at the last tournament, Southgate needs the Chelsea man to hit form once again this winter.
