England have announced two June friendlies in the build up to Euro 2022, including hosting Sarina Wiegman's former Netherlands side at Elland Road.

The Lionesses will host Belgium at Molineux - where the team lifted the Arnold Clark Cup just last month - on Thursday 16 June, before welcoming the Netherlands to Elland Road on Friday 24 June. Both fixtures will kick off at 8pm.

England are also planning to travel abroad for one overseas fixture - with the opponent yet to be confirmed - before returning to the UK for their final Euro 2022 preparations. The Lionesses kick off the tournament against Austria at Old Trafford on Wednesday 6 July.

“Although at the moment we are fully focused on the two upcoming April qualifiers, with the Euros approaching you also feel the excitement growing," said Wiegman.

"These matches against Belgium and the Netherlands will be just the challenge we need in the last weeks of our work to be ready for the EUROs.

"I hope we can continue the progress we have shown so far and build on the strong team spirit and togetherness that we will need to have in the final tournament."

Wiegman spent five years as Netherlands head coach, guiding them to victory on home soil at Euro 2017, before then steering them to the final of the 2019 World Cup two years later.

"Of course playing Netherlands, and seeing so many familiar faces again who Arjan and I have worked with for many years gives a special touch to a game against good opposition," the England boss added.

“I am excited to be going back to Wolverhampton. We were given a tremendous welcome against Germany. I am also very pleased to have the match in Leeds. I know it is an area that has a big passion for football and I hope we can give the fans plenty of excitement at both matches.”
