Manchester United star Ella Toone has signed a new multi-year sponsorship deal with Nike.

Toone, whose profile was already rapidly rising last season before then exploding during the summer as a key member of England’s Euro 2022 winning squad, was already signed to Nike and will now see that relationship continue for the next few years.

It is testament to Toone’s growing status as one of the faces of women’s football in England.

Although not a starter at Euro 2022, the 23-year-old appeared off the bench in every game, playing meaningful contributions. She scored vital goals in the quarter-final against Spain and the final against Germany and the response to her from the crowd grew with each match.

Toone has already stated her ambition to become an England starter going into next year’s World Cup – she was named in the XI for both of the Lionesses’ first two games since the summer – and is also targeting Champions League qualification at club level with United.

During an interview with 90min two months ahead of Euro 2022, Toone spoke about starting to be recognised more often and described being stopped by a fan for a selfie while out shopping as ‘mad’.

Speaking to the Daily Mail in the wake of the Euros, she revealed it had reached new levels.

“I've been in the papers recently, which is so different to what we are used to. I was on holiday and I was getting papped on the beach — and that's not something any of us have had to deal with before,” she explained.

'We kind of knew things were going to change but I maybe didn't know how drastically. Obviously I didn't think that I'd be in the papers eating a pasty!”
