Donny van de Beek has admitted he's looking forward to beginning his Premier League journey with Manchester United, with his first competitive appearance at Old Trafford set to come on Saturday.

The midfielder completed a £40m move to United from Dutch side Ajax at the start of the month, and is United's only signing of the window so far - much to the frustration of the supporters. But United have been praised for the smart capture of a player integral to the Ajax squad that reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2019.

Van de Beek has already turned out once for the Red Devils, as they faced Aston Villa in a pre-season friendly last weekend, but will feature against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford this weekend in United's opening Premier League fixture of the season.

Speaking to Inside United, he opened up on what attracted him to the Manchester side: "Everyone has helped me a lot and wanted to make me feel at home and this is really good for me and it has given me the confidence to play.

"It’s a family club, I feel this already from the first seconds I have been here. Old Trafford is an amazing stadium. The nicest thing will be when the fans are there too and I cannot wait to play for the first time in front of them. I hope to see them soon in the stadium because for our team they will give us a lot of power when we can have them with us."

Van de Beek is already relishing being a part of Man Utd's young, exciting squad adding: "I cannot wait to play many games with them. There are a lot of young players in the group, around my age, and I think this is a really big opportunity for me to help the team.

"It’s always good to play with these kinds of players, you can learn from everybody. Everybody has their own qualities and you have to pick things up from them. I’m really happy I can play with them. That is what I want and I hope together we can make a really nice future for the club."

Van de Beek featured 175 times for Ajax, scoring 41 goals, and will be hoping to continue his habits of getting goals from midfield during his spell at United.
