Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Destiny Udogie has signed a new contract running until 2030.

The left-back joined Spurs in the summer of 2022 from Udinese and spent one last season back on loan in Italy before moving to England.

90min reported on Monday that terms between Tottenham and Udogie over a new long-term commitment were close to being finalised, and the club confirmed this news on Tuesday.

Speaking to Spurs' club channels about his new deal, Udogie said: "I'm happy. I'm happy because I think to be here in this club is a big joy for me so I'm really happy for this opportunity and it's a pleasure.

"From the first day I came in, I felt at home. With the players, the coaching staff and the club. I feel so welcome and happy to be here."

Udogie has quickly become a fan-favourite in north London and has featured prominently under new head coach Ange Postecoglou, mastering an inverted role that requires him to play as an attacking midfielder and touchline winger at times.

He made his competitive Tottenham debut in a 2-2 draw away at Brentford on the opening weekend of the Premier League season and has been a near ever-present since, only missing two matches since.

Udogie scored his first goal for Spurs in Sunday's 4-1 win at home to Newcastle United, ghosting in-field and tapping in a cross from Son Heung-min from close range.

After an impressive start to life at Tottenham, Udogie received his first senior call-up to the Italy national team in October, grabbing an assist on his debut against Malta.

Udogie was one of the last Spurs signings made by former managing director of football Fabio Paratici, who left the club earlier in 2023 after receiving a global ban from the sport. He was initially brought in to play as a wing-back under Antonio Conte, but the former Chelsea boss was sacked in March and eventually succeeded permanently by Postecoglou.
