Denmark take on Finland in their Group B opener in the the ultimate glamour tie (of Nordic countries), as two sides tipped to be dark horses face off.

Kasper Hjulmand's men stand a strong chance of progressing to the knockout stages but in order to do so, they'll probably need to beat a Finland side who are making their first ever appearance in a major tournament.

When you look ahead to this weekend's scheduled fixtures, this one doesn't exactly stick out but if you plan on watching as much football as you can, here's all you need to know ahead of Denmark vs Finland.

The Danes have no fitness concerns heading into their opener this Sunday. Kasper Schmeichel, Andreas Christensen, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Christian Eriksen are all expected to be named in the starting eleven.

Jonas Wind could be given the nod in attack although Kasper Dolberg and Andreas Cornelius are also pushing for a place.


Finland team news

Despite being a doubt heading into the tournament with an ankle problem, Teemu Pukki is expected to be passed fit to start. Joel Pohjanpalo could get the nod to play in attack alongside the Norwich City man.

Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara is expected to start as is 34-year-old Tim Sparv.

While an upset is not beyond the realms of possibility, it's difficult to see past a victory for Denmark who will have their eyes on the runners-up position in the group, most likely behind Belgium.

Finland will be delighted to just be here and that will afford them the luxury of playing with far more freedom than Hjulmand's side.

Having said that, the Danes have home advantage and they've never lost on their own soil against Finland in 21 home games, winning 18 and drawing on 3 occassions.
