West Ham manager David Moyes is on the verge of penning a new three-year deal as he aims to take the club to the "next level".

The former Manchester United boss has transformed the Hammers since being re-appointed in December 2019.

West Ham were languishing in 17th place in the Premier League when he arrived back at the club and having steered them to safety they're now battling in the upper echelons of the top flight.

With little more than a year left to run on his current deal, there were fears he could walk away from the London Stadium with talks over a new contract put on the backburner as co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold looked to assess the club's financial health before offering a new deal.

However, The Telegraph now report that Moyes is close to finalising a three-year deal at West Ham as they prepare to launch their summer recruitment process.

The mooted deal is much longer than had previously been speculated, signalling the faith Gold and Sullivan have in Moyes after his stellar second spell with the Hammers.

Moyes believes the team's success under his stewardship has earned the trust of the owners and that they're right to afford him the chance to take them forward.

“I am not asking for time,” he said. “I don't think any manager can ever ask for time. But I think if you're ever going to give a manager time it would be now, where somebody has come in and saved the club twice, had one year and got ourselves in a position where we are going to challenge for Europe.

“If you are ever going to trust and say ‘let’s go to the next level’, now you have got to give that trust over. You have got to give the manager the ability to try to take the club on to reach what you see as the next level.”

Despite missing out on Champions League qualification West Ham will definitely qualify for Europe in some capacity ahead of their final game of the season against Southampton, with Europa League football looking like returning to the London Stadium next season.
