David Moyes will bring a firm end to speculation linking him with a return to Everton by signing a new three-year contract at West Ham.

To say Moyes has worked wonders since returning to the club in December 2019 would be understating it. The scary-eyed Scot has turned them from relegation fodder into a genuine European contender, and after threatening for Champions League qualification for much of the season, they eventually finished sixth and will play in next season's Europa League.

But he is coming to the end of the 18-month deal he signed in 2019, and with his former club Everton on the lookout for a new manager, he has been linked with a move away from the London Stadium.

He was believed to be one of several contenders on the table to succeed Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park, with Nuno Espirito Santo, Bruno Lage and Rafa Benitez outlined as potential candidates.

Moyes has said nothing to suggest he will walk away from West Ham, however, and it is now being reported by Sky Sports that he will soon be repaid for his loyalty.

They say West Ham have committed their future to Moyes by tabling a three-year contract extension that would keep him at the club until 2024. And it's believed Moyes is happy with that, and has verbally agreed to put pen to paper and remain in east London.

It signifies a huge departure from where West Ham were in 2017 when Moyes first joined the club. He penned a six-month deal then, and despite his good work saving them from relegation, he was let go at the end of the season as they brought in Manuel Pellegrini.

Moyes remained out of work for the entirety of Pellegrini's tenure, which lasted just 18 months before he was let go in December 2019. They turned back to Moyes, who this time insisted on an 18-month deal to avoid a repeat of his first spell at the club.

That has proved to be an inspired decision. Moyes has built a formidable team who won 19 of their 38 games last season and finished comfortably ahead of London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal, and it now seems he will be staying at the club for the long-term.
