David McGoldrick has signed a contract extension at Sheffield United, keeping him at the club for another two years.
The 32-year-old has extended his deal with the Blades until at least 2022, following Billy Sharp and Oliver Norwood in signing new deals this week. It will bring up his time with the club to four years, having signed from Ipswich Town on a free transfer in July 2018.
Speaking to the club's official website, McGoldrick said: "There's nowhere else I'd rather be spending the next two years, so I'm over the moon to sign this extension and remain a part of this fantastic journey the club is on. I'd like to thank the gaffer and the board for getting this sorted so quickly and smoothly."
McGoldrick has made 67 appearances for Sheffield United since arriving in south Yorkshire, bringing an end to five years with Ipswich. He played a key part in helping the Blades earn promotion from the Championship last season, and has continued his role in the first team this season.
He added: "As everyone has seen, this is a club that rewards and ties down those players that have contributed heavily to the success it's enjoyed so I'm delighted the gaffer sees me in the same bracket as Billy [Sharp], Ollie [Norwood] and before that Enda [Stevens] and Flecky [John Fleck]."
McGoldrick has made 22 appearances this season, missing just a handful of Premier League games for Chris Wilder's side. His only goal of the season came in the FA Cup fifth round in March, when he scored the opening goal in the Blades' 2-1 win over Reading after extra time.
Sheffield United sit seventh in the league, an incredible feat for Wilder's men upon promotion. They are two points off the Europa League spot with 10 games to play, sitting hot on the tails of Wolves and Manchester United.
Wilder's side are one of the first teams to return to Premier League action, following the league's suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic. Sheffield United travel to fellow promoted side Aston Villa on 17 June, in the top flight's first fixture in more than three months.
