Orlando City and USMNT striker Daryl Dike has signed for EFL Championship club West Bromwich Albion on a permanent transfer until 2026.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise, going from college soccer to playing for the United States Men's National team in the space of a couple of years. In just 35 MLS appearances for Orlando City, the forward found the net 18 times and assisted another four goals.

Dike enjoyed a prolific loan spell in the Championship with Barnsley in 2021, but Orlando City seemed unwilling to let him leave on a permanent basis. The Lions even rejected a bid from one of the Premier League's so-called 'big six'. But as revealed by 90min, Orlando changed their tune recently, becoming more willing to listen to offers.

On Saturday, reports emerged that Dike had arrived at West Brom's training ground to finalize a deal. 90min was able to confirm these reports while also revealing that the USMNT striker will be joining the Baggies on a permanent basis shortly before it was announced by the club.

West Brom's interest in Dike is unsurprising given the Midlands side are managed by former Barnsley boss Valerian Ismael. Dike scored nine goals in 14 Championship starts in the second half of the 2020/21 Championship season to fire the Tykes into the promotion playoffs.

"Dike has everything we need from the No.9 position. He has energy, strength – he challenges defenders – and he scores goals," Ismael told WBA.co.uk.

“I worked with him at Barnsley and I know him very well. He has the mentality. He is 21 years old and is still a young player – but he has a lot of experience.”
