The second round of Premier League matches are just around the corner, and an incredibly intriguing tie awaits us all at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace host newly-promoted Brentford in Patrick Vieira's first home game in the Eagles' dugout, as two teams that enjoyed extremely contrasting opening day experiences go head to head.

The Bees are still riding the crest of a wave after destroying Arsenal in front of their bouncing home crowd, while Palace are licking their wounds from a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Chelsea.

Brentford coach Thomas Frank will be telling his players to target an unbeaten start to the season, and Vieira just wants to get the campaign rocking and rolling with a point or three. How will this interesting match-up play out, then?

Here's 90min's preview of the big clash.

Crystal Palace team news

The good news for Palace is that Joachim Andersen is in line to make his first competitive start for the club, having come on as a substitute in the defeat to Chelsea. He'll partner Marc Guehi at the heart of the defence, as the new-look backline takes shape.

Unfortunately, Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze remain out of the picture through injury, while Luka Milivojevic misses out due to personal reasons. Loanee Conor Gallagher could make his debut, having been unable to play against parent club Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Brentford team news

The major concern for Brentford boss Frank is the fitness of record signing Kristoffer Ajer, after the centre-back was forced off through injury in the victory over Arsenal. Joshua Da Silva is still out injured, as is midfielder Mathias Jensen.

It's unlikely that the Bees will make many changes from the team which outplayed the Gunners, as long as Ajer recovers from his knock to start against the Eagles.

Crystal Palace vs Brentford head-to-head record

Brentford's trip to Selhurst Park is the first meeting between the two sides since an encounter in 1982, so it's fair to say, these clubs are not too well-acquainted with one another.

That match was a Football League Trophy tie held at Brentford's old ground, Griffin Park, which finished as a 2-2 draw. Saturday's clash will be the first time the two clubs have met in the top flight of English football, becoming the 1,436th different match-up at that level.

Let's hope it's a memorable one.

Before the first round of matches were played, Palace would have probably been considered the favourites in this contest. However, Brentford's buzzing display against Arsenal, combined with the Eagles having their wings clipped by Chelsea has levelled the playing field somewhat.

Vieira will be aware that getting points on the board early doors is key to sticking in a job, and he'll see this game as the perfect opportunity to get up and running. The Bees will be brimming with confidence though, and while we can see plenty of goals at Selhurst Park, we're not certain there will be a winner.

An entertaining score draw could be the order of the day.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-2 Brentford
