Crystal Palace travel to the Midlands to face Aston Villa on Sunday in a Premier League reunion between two of the competition's greatest midfielders.

Patrick Vieira's visiting Eagles are up against Steven Gerrard's hosts. Between them, the legendary pair made more than 800 Premier League appearances, scored more than 150 top-flight goals and claimed three league titles.

Here's the Palace XI Vieira may deploy against his former midfield foe now the pair are shackled to the technical area.

Crystal Palace predicted lineup vs Aston Villa

1. 4-3-3

Vicente Guaita (GK) - After sitting out last weekend's win over Watford with a minor concern, Guaita is expected to return for the trip to Villa Park.

Nathaniel Clyne (RB) - The Palace academy graduate has started the club's last 11 top-flight matches, his longest run in the Premier League since he was at Liverpool in 2017.

Joachim Anderson (CB) - This season, Anderson has recorded as many assists (three) as he had in his previous seven seasons of senior top-flight football.

Marc Guehi (CB) - The durable and dexterous England international is thought to have shaken off the knock he sustained while Palace consigned Watford to the Championship.

Joel Ward (LB) - The experienced fullback has filled in on the left-hand side for Palace's last three matches while Tyrick Mitchell has been tasked with a watching brief.

Conor Gallagher (CM) - Discounting penalties, no Palace player can better Gallagher's return of eight Premier League goals - although the 22-year-old hasn't added to that tally since February.

Will Hughes (CM) - After relegating his former side last weekend, the upcoming meeting between two mid-table teams doesn't promise the same momentous stakes.

Jeffrey Schlupp (CM) - On his three previous career visits to Villa Park, Schlupp has exclusively ended the match on the losing side.

Michael Olise (RW) - Despite making just 12 league starts so far this term, Olise has racked up a team-high five Premier League assists.

Odsonne Edouard (ST) - The former Celtic striker lined up against Gerrard's Rangers in 12 Old Firm derbies, scoring four times.

Wilfried Zaha (LW) - The talismanic winger has scored six goals in his last seven away appearances in England's top flight.
