Colorado Rapids have added Anthony Markanich to the roster through the 2022 Major League Soccer season, with options from 2023 to 2025.

The player was selected by the Western Conference side as the 26th overall pick of the 2022 SuperDraft after a four-season career at Northern Illinois University (NIU).

“Anthony had an excellent preseason with our group and demonstrated the qualities and potential that led us to select him in the SuperDraft,” EVP and general manager Pádraig Smith said in a release. “We’re delighted to extend him a contract and officially welcome him to the club.”

The team’s newest addition featured as left back for the NIU Huskies, recorded 17 goals and 24 assists in 67 appearances throughout his collegiate career. He was also a three-time First-Team All-MAC honoree.

Colorado also picked Mohamed Omar during the SuperDraft, selecting the former Notre Dame midfielder during the first-round. He has since signed for Halifax Wanderers FC of the Canadian Premier League.
