Cody Gakpo has insisted that while his attention is solely on the Netherlands' World Cup campaign right now, he is flattered by stories linking him with transfers to Europe's elite clubs.

90min understands that Manchester United remain interested in Gakpo following summer talks, while he has also been touted as a target for Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

The 23-year-old has already scored twice at the World Cup for a Netherlands side on the verge of securing qualification to the knockout stages.

Speaking ahead of the Oranje's final Group A clash with Qatar, Gakpo was asked about the regular transfer speculation.

"My focus is on the World Cup but it is always nice to hear stories like that," the player said. "I’m trying not to think much about that. I try to do my best to help the team.

"Coach [Louis van Gaal] is very demanding. He always tries to trigger me to become a better player. I am very grateful for that. I am not surprised about my performance. I know what I am capable of.

"At the moment I am a PSV player and the focus is on the national team. We’ll see what will happen. In football it can go crazy, but as it is now, I will still play at PSV after the World Cup."

At club level, Gakpo has already provided nine goals and 12 assists in 14 Eredivisie games for PSV so far this season.
