Christian Fuchs says there were 'no questions' about joining Charlotte FC because of his trust in Steve Walsh.

It was Walsh who brought Fuchs to Leicester City in 2015, where he went on to win the Premier League title in 2015/16, as well as receiving an FA Cup winner's medal in 2021.

Fuchs moved to the United States just after picking up that FA Cup honor, initially with Charlotte Independence in USL before joining up with Charlotte FC upon their arrival in Major League Soccer in 2022.

Yael Averbuch West hosted none other than Christian Fuchs for the latest episode of Football Americana. The Charlotte FC captain provided insight into the creation of Major League Soccer’s newest expansion team, and bringing European culture into the American side. The Premier League winner also revealed his future aspirations, hinting at a potential career at coaching once he hangs up his boots. Tune in to hear it all from Christian Fuchs.

Moving from England to the United States is not a decision that can be taken lightly, even for a well-traveled soccer player like Fuchs who has now played the game in four different countries.

However, the word of Walsh - who helped sporting director Zoran Krneta build CTLFC's roster in an advisory role - was enough to convince the 36-year-old, who now captains Charlotte FC.

"Honestly, I had no questions, because Steve Walsh made me a Premier League champion. He signed me to Leicester. He scouted me and signed me to Leicester. And what else do I have to ask? There's no questions asked," Fuchs told 90min's Football Americana podcast.

"If he says, 'listen, this is something that can really be good for your career, to extend your career, and where you can play a big part in your franchise', I'm like, 'It sounds very good to me.' That's it."

CLTFC are enjoying a positive expansion season so far, sitting 10th in the Eastern Conference but only three points behind the MLS Cup Playoff spots having played a game fewer than many teams around them.
