Indian Super League side Chennaiyin FC have roped in young winger Vincy Barretto on a multi-year deal ahead of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 season.

Barretto helped Kerala Blasters reach the final of the Indian Super League last season. He scored two goals in 17 games including a thunderbolt against Hyderabad FC.

Meanwhile, Barretto is Chennaiyin FC's first signing this year.

“We are happy to bring in Vincy Barretto who will add youthful energy into our attack. At the age of 22, he is already known for his capabilities. This is a very positive signing for us leading into season 9,” said Chennaiyin FC co-owner Vita Dani to Indian Super League's official website on the arrival of the youngster.

Barretto was also part of the inaugural Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) wherein he scored three goals in seven games for the Blasters.

Speaking after joining the Marina Machans, Barretto said, "I’m very excited to join Chennaiyin FC, a club that has already been successful in its little history. My only goal is to win more titles with the club."

Barretto received his first senior contract at FC Goa's reserve side when he was 18-years-old.

He then moved to Gokulam Kerala and helped them to their maiden I-League title in 2020-21 in his debut season.

Soon, Kerala Blasters came calling in 2021 and after a successful season with them, Barretto will join forces with Chennaiyin FC, who are building a young side for the next season with more impetus on Indian footballers.
