In a week of uncertainty at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea entertain Newcastle in the Premier League as the Blues look to continue their winning momentum.

Victory over Norwich in midweek moved Thomas Tuchel's side eight points clear of Arsenal in 4th place - albeit having played two games more - which lifted the mood after news earlier in the day that owner Roman Abramovich had been sanctioned by the UK government.

Newcastle, meanwhile, took another huge step towards safety with a come-from-behind 2-1 win at Southampton, making it six wins from their last eight games.

Here's everything you need to know about the game.

Chelsea team news

Reece James is facing a few weeks on the sidelines with a muscle injury after making just his first start for Chelsea in 2022 in the 4-0 win at Burnley last weekend.

Tuchel also confirmed that both Cesar Azpilicueta and Christian Pulisic are struggling with illness - the latter was unavailable in midweek - while Callum Hudson-Odoi is an injury doubt.

Newcastle team news

Eddie Howe will hope to have Joelinton back for the trip to west London after the Brazilian was ruled out of the midweek win at Southampton with a muscle problem.

In the meantime, Matt Ritchie returned to the Magpies squad, although Howe will be without the services of Isaac Hayden, Kieran Trippier, Jamal Lewis and Callum Wilson for this one.

Chelsea vs Newcastle head-to-head record

Newcastle's woes in London over the years have been well-documented, although they will take solace from their 2-0 victory at Brentford last month.

In fact, the Magpies have lost on their last nine trips to Stamford Bridge, with their last win coming via a famous Papiss Cisse brace in May 2012.

This season's reverse fixture at St. James' Park also went the way of Chelsea in a comprehensive 3-0 victory, although the Magpies did score a last-gasp 1-0 win over the Blues in the North East in the 2019/20 campaign.

Chelsea vs Newcastle score prediction

Newcastle are a much improved outfit after their January spending spree, although their recent unbeaten run is likely to be brought to a halt by a confident Chelsea side.

The stratospheric brilliance of Man City and Liverpool has left Chelsea in the rearview mirror in regards to the Premier League title picture, but Thomas Tuchel's side are quietly enjoying a strong campaign.

The Blues have not dropped points in the league since their 1-1 draw with Brighton on January 18 and it's difficult to envisage them doing similar this weekend.

Prediction: Chelsea 2-0 Newcastle
