Chelsea and Manchester City meet in a cup final for the first time on Saturday evening, with the 2021/22 season's maiden piece of silverware up for grabs.

Chelsea currently hold all three domestic trophies, with a Fran Kirby masterclass setting them on their way to the treble as they comprehensively beat Bristol City in last season's Continental Cup final.

Standing in their way this time are Man City - three-time winners of the competition, and currently in their best shape and form of the campaign.

Chelsea team news

Chelsea are close to a fully fit squad ahead of Saturday's final, and are just missing midfielders Melanie Leupolz and Erin Cuthbert.

Captain Magdalena Eriksson is available again, having been absent since mid December with an ankle injury.

Maren Mjelde is also set to be included in the squad following her injury layoff, although manager Emma Hayes admitted it was unlikely she would feature.

Manchester City team news

Vicky Losada is a doubt for City and will be assessed closer to kick off, having been removed at half time after suffering a knock in last weekend's Manchester derby.

Laura Coombs is available once more after missing her side's last three outings, while Esme Morgan and Steph Houghton remain a long-term absentees. Gareth Taylor admitted Saturday's final will likely have come 'too soon' for Chloe Kelly as she continues her comeback from an ACL injury, but revealed that she was nearing a return to action after 10 months out.

Caroline Weir and Hayley Raso changed the game from the bench during City's 4-1 victory over Manchester United last time out, and could be rewarded with starts from the off on Saturday.

Chelsea vs Manchester City predicted lineups

Chelsea vs Manchester City score prediction

Chelsea have done the double over City in the WSL this season, running riot in a 4-0 victory at the Academy Stadium in November. The injury woes that plagued the first half of City's campaign are now largely in their rear view mirror, and they have given a truer account of themselves in their recent victories over rivals United.

The pair's most recent meeting was a much more tightly-contested affair. Chelsea were narrow 1-0 winners and defended stoically in the final 10 minutes to preserve their lead. Saturday's clash promises more of the same, with Emma Hayes' side likely to be narrow winners.

Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Manchester City
