Chelsea will be vying to settle the scores against Liverpool on Sunday, as they face the Reds for the first time since their shock defeat on the opening weekend of the WSL season.

The reigning champions were beaten 2-1 by a newly promoted Liverpool to kick off the 2022/23 campaign thanks to a pair of Katie Stengel penalties - but the two teams have experienced vastly different fortunes since.

The Blues have barely missed a beat in the WSL since their opening day slip up, winning nine from 10 to rise to the league summit. The Reds meanwhile have only picked up five points from a possible 27 to leave them lingering in the lower echelons of the division.

Liverpool team news

Katie Stengel is available again after missing out against Manchester United through injury, while Leanne Kiernan continues to miss out after undergoing ankle surgery on an injury she sustained last time out against Chelsea.

New Liverpool signings Miri Taylor and Fuka Nugano have had their clearance to play approved by the US, the club are just waiting on final confirmation from the FA to enable them to be available on Sunday.

Chelsea vs Liverpool score prediction

Both sides underwhelmed in their first WSL matches back following the winter break, Chelsea needing a last gasp Sam Kerr equaliser to rescue a point against Arsenal having largely been second best, and Liverpool being dispatched 6-0 by Manchester United.

Despite being frustrated and beaten by the Reds last time out, Chelsea are favourites for this one and should emerge comfortable winners.

Prediction: Chelsea 3-0 Liverpool
