Chelsea have confirmed the loan signing of Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid.

90min understands that the Blues will pay roughly €10m in order to take the Portugal forward on loan for the rest of the 2022/23 season.

A Chelsea statement read: "Portuguese attacker Joao Felix will be part of the Chelsea squad for the remainder of the season, having moved to Stamford Bridge on loan from Atletico Madrid."

Speaking to the club's official website after making the loan move, Felix said: "Chelsea is one of the great teams in the world and I hope to help the team reach their objectives, so I am very, very happy to be here and very excited to play at Stamford Bridge."

After just one season in Benfica's first team, Felix became the fourth-most expensive player of all time when Atletico paid €126m to sign him.

He has scored 34 goals in 131 games for Los Rojiblancos, notably helping them win the 2020/21 La Liga title behind closed doors.

Felix's game time has been limited this season and he was linked with a move away from the Estadio Metropolitano for some time.

Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United were also keen on the 23-year-old, but he has joined Chelsea instead.
