Chelsea's next six games after Real Madrid defeat

The conclusion to 2022/23 cannot come quick enough for Chelsea, but fear not, Blues supporters, the finish line is in sight.

It's been a miserable campaign at Stamford Bridge that could result in the club's poorest-ever Premier League performance. While they may not sink to their lowest-ever finish of 14th, Chelsea require eight points from their remaining seven games to avoid their worst-ever points-per-game record.

The return of Frank Lampard is yet to have its desired effect, whatever they thought that might be, and the Blues have very little to play for in the wake of their Champions League exit, which was sealed on Tuesday with another 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid.

Here's what their upcoming schedule looks like, with a trip to Old Trafford also yet to be rearranged.

Lampard will get some respite this weekend as the Blues aren't in action, but they'll take to the field next Wednesday for a west London derby against Brentford.

Thomas Frank's Bees once had European aspirations, but they've endured a bit of a slide as of late and are winless in five. Perhaps Chelsea could capitalise on their neighbours' recent woes and close the current four-point gap between the two sides.

Arsenal vs Chelsea - Premier League

This fixture was initially scheduled for Saturday evening before it was moved to the following Tuesday over policing concerns.

Arsenal were dominant in a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge last November, and their superiority should be distinct when Chelsea visit the Emirates. However, Lampard will be particularly keen to further disrupt the Gunners' title hopes.

This clash arrives just days after Arsenal's trip to the Etihad.

Bournemouth vs Chelsea - Premier League

Gary O'Neil continues to impress down on the south coast with Bournemouth edging closer to survival.

The Cherries have won three of their last four and have looked more cohesive during their recent impressive run than Chelsea have at any point since Thomas Tuchel's departure.

Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest - Premier League

Okay, you might actually fancy Chelsea here. Tough to say, I know.

Forest have been diabolical away from home this season, notching a meagre six points on their travels and scoring four goals. While Stamford Bridge has hardly been a fortress this term, it's hard to envisage Steve Cooper's relegation-threatened outfit waltzing in and walking away with all three points.

Man City vs Chelsea - Premier League

Chelsea are going to have some say in this title race, eh?

After visiting Arsenal at the start of May, the Blues visit the Etihad on the penultimate matchday of the season. Man City are playing like they're by far and away the best team on the planet right now, and they could genuinely be out of sight by the time Lampard's side pay a visit.

Chelsea vs Newcastle - Premier League

Ahhhhhhhhh, the end!

The day Blues supporters are longing for. Unfortunately, it's not exactly a simple conclusion for Chelsea as they play host to top-four hopefuls Newcastle on the final day. The Magpies are expected to clinch a Champions League berth, but their inexperience could see the race go down to the wire.

Thus, the west Londoners could potentially spoil another party - unlikely, I know. As party shunners go, this Chelsea outfit is comparable to the two cops in Superbad.
