Didier Drogba scores hat-trick against Arsene Wenger in charity game

Arsene Wenger may just have been getting over his nightmares of watching his Arsenal side get torn apart by Didier Drogba.

The legendary Chelsea striker always relished coming up against Arsenal, banging 13 goals in his 15 meetings with the Gunners during his time in England, including five goals in two cup finals and a semi-final.

Drogba finally let Arsenal off the hook when he left Chelsea for good in the summer of 2015, but he laced up his boots one last time on Wednesday as he turned out for former club Marseille in a charity match against a UNICEF XI led by Wenger himself.

Now 43 years old, Drogba looked like he hadn't skipped a beat as he bagged no fewer than three goals during the game, each of which was followed by his iconic arm-pumping celebration and famous knee slide.

His side of Marseille legends, which also featured former Gunners Robert Pires and Samir Nasri, stormed to a 7-4 victory in the feel-good encounter, which was raising money for both UNICEF and the Didier Drogba Foundation.

Drogba retired from action back in December 2018 to focus on his charity work and part-ownership of American side Phoenix Rising, whom he hopes will be promoted to the MLS at the end of the season.

There's something about facing Wenger that clearly lights a fire under Drogba, who not only tormented the Frenchman in England, but also netted twice against Arsenal for Galatasaray and even put one past the Gunners for the MLS All Stars in 2016.

He ended his career with 16 goals in 17 matches against Wenger's Arsenal but continues to torment the boss even in retirement.
