Chelsea have officially launched their new 2020/21 home kit, which has been inspired in its design by ‘fine London tailoring’ as the Blues dub themselves ‘the capital’s most stylish club’.

Chelsea kits continue to be made by Nike, but this is the first that features mobile network Three as the primary shirt sponsor. Hyundai remains the sleeve sponsor.

The link to tailoring is in the herringbone knit pattern that features all over, which Chelsea describe as London’s ‘rich fashion heritage’ being ‘woven into’ the new jersey.

Even ‘The Pride of London’ inscription, which features down the sides of the torso is present in indigo lettering that is reminiscent of labels sewn into London-crafted suits.

Chelsea's new home shirt is on Nike.com here from £69.95.

With dark blue trim on the neck, sleeve cuffs and side panels, as opposed to white that has been typically seen over the years, the 2020/21 design also offers a fresh take on a Chelsea shirt.

Striker Tammy Abraham has called the new kit, ‘really, really smart’. He told the club’s official website, “You can see the story behind the kit with how it looks and all the little touches that remind you of a good suit. I think we will certainly be the best dressed team next season.”

Chelsea Women forward Fran Kirby said, “I’m really excited to be wearing this kit when we take to the pitch again for the 20/21 season. Winning the WSL was an incredible moment for the club and we’ll be proud to be wearing the new kit as champions next season.”

Chelsea will immediately begin wearing the new home kit, which is made from 100% recycled polyester created from recycled plastic bottles, and will do so for the first time in the Premier League clash with West Ham on Wednesday night.

It will later go on sale to fans from 9 July.
