Chelsea 3-0 West Ham: Player Ratings as Tammy Abraham Double Puts Blues Fifth

Chelsea returned to winning ways in the Premier League as they outfought a resilient West Ham performance to record a victory that moved them back into the top five.

Tammy Abraham's late double put the game out of reach after the Irons threatened to nick a point from their London rivals.

Chelsea had led from the tenth minute when Thiago Silva rose to head in Mason Mount's corner but the Blues looked disjointed at times thereafter and struggled to handle the lively Jarrod Bowen on the counter.

They defended strongly, however, and breathed a sigh of relief when Timo Werner's skewed effort fell into Abraham's path to double the lead.

The striker nodded in a messy third to secure a key win for his team.

CHELSEA

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Edouard Mendy (GK) - 6/10 - Rarely puts a foot wrong and turned in another steady display here - granted without making a save of note.

Cesar Azpilicueta (RB) - 6/10 - Did a decent job in keeping Pablo Fornals quiet even if West Ham focused their attacks down the opposite flank for the most part.

Kurt Zouma (CB) - 6/10 - Looked absolutely fine and up for the physical battle with Sebastian Haller.

Thiago Silva (CB) - 7/10 - An absolute powerhouse in both boxes. Left Lukasz Fabianski with no chance for the opening goal his commanding performance deserved.

Ben Chilwell (LB) - 3/10 - Two touches of the ball before he left the pitch with injury after ten minutes.

2. Midfielders

N'Golo Kante (CM) - 6/10 - Caught out of position once or twice which was strange but his vitality kept Chelsea's heart beating as ever.

Jorginho (CM) - 6/10 - One of his quieter games but tidy in possession and did his job with minimal fuss.

Mason Mount (AM) - 7/10 - Sixth assist of the season for Silva's opener underlined his understated importance to Chelsea these days. At the heart of just about everything.

3. Forwards

Christian Pulisic (RW) - 6/10 - Lacked sharpness as you'd expect after his stuttered start to the season but his quality shone through on a few occasions - particularly on the counter-attack. Brought off for Havertz as he continues on his road to fitness.

Tammy Abraham (ST) - 7/10 - Might have gone as far to call him anonymous until he turned the first goal in but confidence does funny things to strikers. Came alive for the final ten and got his team over the line in a game they might have otherwise dropped points in.

Timo Werner (LW) - 5/10 - Why is he being used as a left winger? Spurned a great chance to double the lead in the first half and generally lacked confidence, obviously hamstrung by an unfamiliar role that does not play to his strengths.

WEST HAM

5. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Lukasz Fabianski (GK) - 7/10 - One or two nervy moments but kept his cool under immense pressure at times. Distribution kept his side ticking and he made a key stop to deny Werner.

Vladimir Coufal (RB) - 6/10 - Kept an imposing left flank quiet and continues to exert a quiet influence over the West Ham side.

Fabian Balbuena (CB) - 5/10 - Culpable for the third goal as he completely lost track of Tammy Abraham at the back post.

Angelo Ogbonna (CB) - 6/10 - Nowhere to be seen for Silva's goal when he was best positioned to provide a challenge. Otherwise fine, though couldn't add to his recently prolific goalscoring record.

Aaron Cresswell (LB) - 5/10 - Last 10 minutes let him down after an otherwise steady game. Caught ball-watching for the second goal that killed off his team's chances.

6. Midfielders

Declan Rice (CM) - 6/10 - Had to double check the shirt number when he rounded Edouard Mendy to score early on. Normality was restored when it was ruled out for offside. Typical battling performance but not as ambitious on the ball as his side sometimes need.

Tomas Soucek (CM) - 6/10 - Couldn't quite impose himself on the game but you can't fault his effort as he charges from box to box like a man possessed.

Mark Noble (CM) - 6/10 - Helped keep things tight for long spells in a game where the scoreline was harsh on his side. .

7. Forwards

Jarrod Bowen (RW) - 7/10 - Once again West Ham's liveliest attacking threat as he took full advantage of Emerson's introduction. Terrorised the Italy international and was constantly seen trying to drive his side forward.

Sebastian Haller (ST) - 5/10 - Sometimes looks as if he can't be bothered. Ball stuck to him at times in the first half but he faded into anonymity as the game wore on and Chelsea turned the screw. .

Pablo Fornals (LW) - 5/10 - Lacked the pace and dynamism to impact the game from wide and was brought off with 25 to go.
