Chelsea stretched their unbeaten run to 10 games with a comfortable 3-0 win over 10-man Rennes in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Timo Werner opened the scoring from the penalty spot after being tripped by Dalbert, and doubled the Blues' advantage with another spot kick - Dalbert again the culprit after handling Tammy Abraham's effort. The Rennes full-back was subsequently given his marching orders.

Abraham extended Chelsea's lead five minutes into the second half, turning home Reece James' inviting cross from close range.

Edouard Mendy was only called into action once all evening, but he was equal to Clement Grenier's strike as Chelsea comfortably claimed all three points.

Let's get into some player ratings.

Chelsea

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Edouard Mendy (GK) - 6/10 - Comfortably claimed a couple of crosses and was only forced into one save of note all evening, palming Grenier's shot away to preserve his clean sheet.

Reece James (RB) - 8/10 - Up and down the right flank all evening, provided a teasing cross that was turned home by Abraham for Chelsea's third.

Thiago Silva (CB) - 7/10 - Rarely troubled defensively, spent most of the game dictating play from the back. Picked out James with one particularly sumptuous pass in the second half. Substituted just after the hour mark.

Kurt Zouma (CB) - 7/10 - Much like his centre back partner, Zouma was rarely called upon defensively, spending much of the game playing into midfield.

Ben Chilwell (LB) - 7/10 - Had very little to do defensively but was actively involved going forward, spending much of the match camped inside the Ajax half. Picked out Ziyech with an excellent floated cross during the early stages of the first half, but the winger fired just over.

2. Midfielders

Jorginho (CDM) - 7/10 - Off penalty duty but ruthlessly efficient in possession. Sublime vision and intelligence and offered vital protection to the Chelsea backline, allowing Chilwell and James to bomb forward.

N'Golo Kante (CM) -
7/10 - Ran his socks off as per usual - an absolute nightmare to play against when down to 10-men. Replaced just after the hour mark.

Mason Mount (CM) -
7/10 - Full of running from the first minute to the last, pressing energetically as the clock ticked down despite Chelsea's comfortable lead.

3. Forwards

Hakim Ziyech (RW) - 7/10 Almost opened the scoring in spectacular style, plucking the ball out of the air and sending an audacious volley narrowly over. Constantly switching flanks with Werner and drifting inside to allow James or Chilwell to overlap.

Tammy Abraham (ST) - 8/10 - Won Chelsea's second penalty after his effort was judged to be blocked by the arm of Dalbert, before netting Chelsea'a third with an instinctive finish from close range.

Timo Werner (LW) - 8/10 - Won Chelsea's first penalty after being tripped by Dalbert, before dispatching the spot kick himself. Went bottom left with his first penalty and top left with his second. Energetic, lively and a very willing runner.
