Chelsea cruised into the Champions League quarter finals with a 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge for a 3-0 aggregate victory.

The Blues took the lead in the first half when Kai Havertz released Timo Werner on the counter attack, and he squared for Hakim Ziyech to slot in under the body of Jan Oblak. There weren't many chances in the second half for either side, with Chelsea dominating the ball.

Defender Stefan Savic saw red for an elbow with ten minutes to go and Chelsea wrapped the game up in injury time when substitute Emerson Palmieri scored with his first and only touch of the game.

Here are 90min's player ratings for the game.

CHELSEA RATINGS

1. Goalkeeper and Defenders

Edouard Mendy (GK) - 6/10 - Didn't have much to do in the end. Comfortable on the ball and a presence throughout.

Cesar Azpilicueta (CB) - 6/10 -
Got away with not conceding a penalty in the first half but was tidy on the ball, making more passes than anyone else on the pitch.

Kurt Zouma (CB) - 6/10 -
Stood tall physically throughout and dealt with all the different threats Atletico tried to play with well. Won more aerial duels than any other Chelsea player.

Antonio Rudiger (CB) - 7/10 -
A solid performance from the German, proving why he's first choice under the new manager.

2. Midfielders

Reece James (RWB) - 6/10 - Had acres of space to work in during the first half but didn't do enough with it.

N'Golo Kante (CM) - 8/10 -
Covered every blade of grass on the night and was key to Tuchel's side winning the midfield battle. Vintage performance.

Mateo Kovacic (CM) - 7/10 -
Pressed well off the ball and kept it well when on it, completing over 90% of his passes on the night.

Marcos Alonso (LWB) - 6/10 -
The Spaniard was good at both ends of the pitch when called upon, although he wasn't involved as much as he usually would be.

3. Forwards

Hakim Ziyech (RW) - 7/10 - Got the all important goal which should give him confidence, although he was fairly wasteful in possession.

Timo Werner (ST) - 8/10 -
Arguably his best performance as a centre forward for the Blues. Worked hard, was a constant threat in behind and grabbed his seventh assist of the season.

Kai Havertz (LW) - 8/10 - Started the counter that got the goal and had probably his brightest game under Tuchel.

4. Substitutes

Christian Pulisic (RW) - N/A

Callum Hudson-Odoi (LW) - N/A

Ben Chilwell (LWB) - N/A

Emerson (LW) - 10/10 - Scored with his first and only touch after coming on in injury time.

ATLETICO MADRID RATINGS

5. Goalkeeper and Defenders

Stefan Savic, Kurt Zouma

Jan Oblak (GK) - 6/10 - Could do nothing about the goals conceded and made some decent stops throughout the game.

Kieran Trippier (RB) - 5/10 -
Struggled to really get going in an attacking sense and defensively got dragged about by Chelsea's attack.

Jose Gimenez (CB) - 5/10 -
Was solid aerially against the smaller attackers, but didn't do much to justify his reported €100m asking price.

Stefan Savic (CB) - 2/10 -
Got nutmegged in the build-up to Chelsea's first goal and was later sent off for an elbow on Rudiger. A night to forget for the former Manchester City man.

Renan Lodi (LB) - 4/10 -
Booked in the first half and subbed at half-time. Nothing more to it for him.

6. Midfielders

Marcos Llorente (RM) - 5/10 - Couldn't recreate his Anfield heroics from last season. Playing in four different positions throughout the night didn't help.

Koke (CM) - 5/10 -
Was fiery and tried to set the tempo for Atleti but ultimately struggled, being dribbled past six times - more than double anyone else on the pitch.

Saul Niguez (CM) - 5/10 -
A shadow of the player he was a few years ago, completing just 79% of his passes. Booked.

Yannick Carrasco (LM) - 4/10 -
Touched the ball the least of anyone on the pitch in the first half, including the goalkeeper, and lasted less than ten mins of the second half. Poor.

7. Forwards

Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez (ST) - 3/10 - Hooked after less than an hour after a disasterclass. Nothing went right for him and he ends the campaign goalless in Europe.

Joao Felix (ST) - 6/10 - Easily Atleti's best player on the night, but it just didn't go his way.

8. Substitutes

Hermoso (CB) - 4/10 - Change of system didn't do much as Atletico got dominated.

Moussa Dembele (ST) - 4/10 - His arrival made no difference as the La Liga side completely failed to create any real chances.

Angel Correa (ST) - N/A

Thomas Lemar (LM) - N/A
