AC Milan are inching closer to finally beating Leeds and Leicester City to the signing of Club Brugge forward Charles De Ketelaere, 90min understands.

De Ketelaere has been attracting interest from across the continent all summer after netting 14 goals in all competitions last season.

As reported by 90min, the player is eager to sign for Milan and play Champions League football, despite interest from Leeds and Leicester.

Personal terms have long been agreed with the Rossoneri but the two clubs have been haggling over a fee for some time. Now, sources have confirmed that Milan technical director Paolo Maldini has jetted off to Belgium in an attempt to get an agreement over the line.

The Serie A champions are currently offering around €32m, once add-ons are taken into account, with Club Brugge holding out for €35m.

90min understands that Leeds are ready to meet these demands should Milan pull out of a deal, which seems unlikely.

Quizzed about the club's interest in the forward recently, Whites manager Jesse Marsch insisted that they were still in the race for De Ketelaere.

"The striker one, I think it’s been well documented that De Ketelaere was a goal of ours and it’s not finished yet with him,” said Marsch.

"But we’ve also moved on to some other targets trying to figure out which would be the best fit if in the end, which is what we believe, he will not be available."
