The coronation of King Charles III has blessed us with yet another May bank holiday, and football lovers are being served up a treat on Monday afternoon.

The Championship season concludes with several teams battling it out for two play-off spots. That's where the pressure point lies on the final day of the season after Reading succumbed to the second tier following Huddersfield's victory over Sheffield United on Thursday.

Here's 90min's preview of the final day of Championship fixtures.

Championship table as it stands

Burnley and Sheffield United will return to the Premier League automatically after comprehensively securing the division's top two spots.

Luton and Middlesbrough are guaranteed play-off places and Coventry will most likely join them barring a dramatic turn of events on the final day.

Millwall, Sunderland, West Brom and Blackburn are all still mathematically in the mix, each hoping results go in their favour to secure a place in the end of season play-off lottery.

Millwall vs Blackburn

  • Location: London, England
  • Stadium: The Den
  • Date: Monday 8 May
  • Kick-off Time: 15:00 BST / 10:00 EST / 07:00 PST
  • Referee: Oliver Langford

This isn't quite your classic case of 'win and you're in', but victory for Millwall over Blackburn on Monday will guarantee them a play-off spot.

Millwall currently sit sixth in the table three points better off than their final day opponents. The visitors must win to keep their play-off hopes alive, but it wouldn't necessarily secure them a place in the 'post-season'. They need other results to go their way, also.

A draw would eliminate Blackburn from contention while seriously jeopardising Millwall.

The game is will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Middlesbrough vs Coventry

  • Location: Middlesbrough, England
  • Stadium: Riverside Stadium
  • Date: Monday 8 May
  • Kick-off Time: 15:00 BST / 10:00 EST / 07:00 PST
  • Referee: John Busby

Coventry are in a strong position heading into the final day, but their play-off status has not yet been secured. They need at least a point at the Riverside to progress into the play-offs.

Mark Robins' side have rattled off an impressive unbeaten run at a crucial point in the season and currently sit fifth in the table with 69 points. They're a point clear of Millwall and three clear of Sunderland, West Brom and Blackburn.

However, should they taste defeat on Monday, they're at risk of sliding out of the play-offs if Millwall, Sunderland, and West Brom all win.

Preston vs Sunderland

  • Location: Preston, England
  • Stadium: Deepdale
  • Date: Monday 8 May
  • Kick-off Time: 15:00 BST / 10:00 EST / 07:00 PST
  • Referee: Robert Madley

Sunderland sit alongside Coventry as one of the most in-form sides in the second tier, but they've got work to do if they're to snatch an unlikely play-off berth.

Victory at Preston is a necessity, and they've got to hope either Millwall stumble against Blackburn or Coventry are beaten by Boro.

Preston are winless in four and playing for absolutely nothing in front of their home support on the final day.

The game is will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Swansea vs West Brom

  • Location: Swansea, Wales
  • Stadium: Swansea.com Stadium
  • Date: Monday 8 May
  • Kick-off Time: 15:00 BST / 10:00 EST / 07:00 PST
  • Referee: Keith Stroud

The final side with play-off aspirations is West Brom, who travel to Swansea on Monday afternoon.

No team has picked up more points in their last six Championship outings than the Swans (16), but their resurgence came too late in regards to the play-off race. Russell Martin's side are tenth with 63 points.

As for West Brom, they've got to win in Wales to have any chance of making the play-offs. They've also got to hope Sunderland fail to beat Preston and Millwall slip-up or Coventry are beaten by a comfortable margin.

Remaining Championship final day fixtures

  • Wigan vs Rotherham
  • Luton Town vs Hull City
  • Huddersfield Town vs Reading
  • Burnley vs Cardiff City
  • Birmingham vs Sheffield Utd
  • QPR vs Bristol City
  • Norwich City vs Blackpool
  • Watford vs Stoke City

Huddersfield vs Reading looked for all money to be the ultimate relegation duel, but Neil Warnock masterminded a huge victory over the automatically promoted Sheffield United to condemn Reading to the third tier.

Champions Burnley end the season at Turf Moor against Cardiff with the trophy lift set to follow their encounter. Off the back of Thursday's defeat, Sheffield United visit Birmingham, while Luton, who have already secured a play-off berth, will be hoping to finish the season strong as they host Hull.

In the other inconsequential affairs, Wigan face Rotherham, QPR take on Bristol City, and Norwich's disappointing season finishes by hosting League One bound Blackpool.
