Scottish football is not for the faint-hearted.

Bone crunching challenges are standard procedure in this league. If you want to play in the Scottish Premiership, then you need to have something about you. Seriously, imagine getting tackled by Scott Brown and living to tell the tale?

Celtic have dominated Scottish football over the last few years. The Hoops have won the Scottish Premiership eight times in a row, and they don't look like being dethroned anytime soon.

During this dominance, they've had some truly fantastic players grace Celtic Park. Picking just 25 players who have played for Celtic in the modern era is no easy feat, but we at 90min gave it a good go anyways:

Goalkeepers

Artur Boruc - The 'Holy Goalie' is a cult hero at the club. The man just loved producing wonder saves and could stop a penalty with his eyes closed. Boruc was intimidating, and he loved winding up Rangers fans - the perfect Celtic keeper.

Craig Gordon - The reliable Gordon has produced some solid performances for Celtic over the years, and the 37-year-old is still on the books today. He doesn't play much these days, but does anyone?

Fraser Forster - Forster could've easily been England's undisputed number one, but it didn't work out that way, and the Englishman became a Celtic hero instead. The 33-year-old is currently enjoying his fourth spell with the club and is still producing top-notch performances.

Centre Backs

Johan Mjallby - Mjallby was an ironclad no nonsense defender. The Swedish centre-back was a star performer for Celtic and will always be considered as one of their best defenders.

Bobo Baldé - A solid player for Celtic during the Martin O'Neill era and he even had his own iconic chant, "Bobo's gonna get ye!" would be chanted from the terraces of Celtic Park.

Kristoffer Ajer - This one might come as a surprise to people, but Ajer has solidified his place in the Celtic squad over the last two years and deserves to be on this list. For someone who is just 22 years old, the Norwegian shows immense composure on the ball and has a big career ahead of him.

Virgil van Dijk - The world's best centre back has to be on the list. Celtic tried to keep the world-beater a secret, but it was to no avail. He was terrific for Celtic and scored 15 goals in 115 games for the Hoops.

Right Backs

Jackie McNamara - One of Celtic's best ever right-backs they don't make them like McNamara anymore. The Scot was a Celtic starter for the best part of ten years and was fully committed every time he put on a Celtic shirt.

Mikael Lustig - A man that played a role in every single one of Celtic's eight consecutive title wins. No brainer.

Left Backs

Kieran Tierney - Modern and dynamic are words that describe Tierney. The left-back made a name for himself at Celtic and got the footballing world talking about his ability - it came as no surprise when Arsenal came calling.

Emilio Izaguirre - Izaguirre was a joy to watch during his time at Celtic. The Honduran had his first spell in Parkhead in 2010, and over the years he has become a club hero for Celtic fans. The left-back played over 270 games for Celtic.

Central Midfielders

Neil Lennon - Leaving out Victor Wanyama feels wrong, but it would be worse to leave out Neil Lennon. The midfielder dominated in the middle of the park and put in a shift every time he stepped onto the pitch.

Paul Lambert - An important figure in the central midfield role for Celtic. Before coming to Glasgow, he was a Champions League winner with Borussia Dortmund, and he used this experience to help him during his time in Scotland.

Scott Brown - Scott Brown is Celtic and that's all you need to know. His tenacity has been the driving force behind Celtic's recent dominance, and he is one of the most committed midfielders ever to wear the green and white shirt.

Callum McGregor - McGregor has grown into his role at Celtic Park and has quickly become integral to the Celtic side. The 26-year-old midfielder makes the Celtic attack flow, and without him, the creativity would be very thin on the ground.

Shunsuke Nakamura - Mr. free-kick himself was a joy to watch for Celtic and will be fondly remembered by Celtic fans all over the world for his contributions.

James Forrest - It's no doubt that James Forrest deserves a place on this list, over the last few years he has produced some stunning displays in a Celtic shirt and has been present for Celtic's eight-in-a-row title wins.

Alan Thompson - This man just never failed when it came to providing for the strikers in front of him. The winger often saved his best performances for the big stage, and he loved an Old Firm game.

Aiden McGeady - A solid player for Celtic over the years and fully deserving of a place on the list.

Stiliyan Petrov - One of the easiest choices of all, Petrov was quite simply immense for the Bhoys. The Bulgarian won many trophies during his time at Celtic, but the trebles of 2000/01 and 2003/04 were the most special.

Kris Commons - Commons was a marvel for Celtic at times and scored goals at will during the 2013/14 season, racking up 32 in all competitions.

Lubomir Moravcik - No ,that wasn't a sneeze it was actually the technical genius that was Lubomir Moravcik. One of the best-attacking midfielders Celtic has ever seen, he really could do it all and then some.

Henrik Larsson - One of the best Celtic players ever had to make this list. The Swede was so divine to watch that you couldn't believe just how good he was at times. 242 goals in 313 appearances really does speak for itself, and Celtic will never have another striker like him.

Chris Sutton - It seems unfair on John Hartson, but Chris Sutton gets a lot of stick for his commentary and he needs something to be happy about. The striker did help Celtic win three SPL titles during his time at Celtic Park.

Leigh Griffiths - If you're looking for a player with bundles of pace and goalscoring ability, then Griffiths is your man. The man can always pop up with a goal, and he has been doing that at Celtic Park for years.
