Rangers claimed the bragging rights in the Old Firm with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Celtic at Celtic Park on Saturday.

Centre-back Connor Goldson was the unlikely hero, finding the net either side of half time with a deft header and well-taken finish from close range.

Celtic hardly threatened the Rangers goal, substitute Leigh Griffiths having the hosts' best opportunity after rounding Allan McGregor, but he could not find the net from a tight angle.

However, they failed to register a shot on target as Rangers recorded their second successive win over their rivals to top the Scottish Premiership.

Let's get into some player ratings...

Celtic

1. Goalkeeper and Defenders

Vasilis Barkas (GK) - 5/10 - Should have done better with Rangers' opening goal, palming Goldson's header into his own net.

Kristoffer Ajer (CB) - 7/10 - Conceded the free kick that led to Rangers' opener with a soft foul on Kent. Made a stunning second-half tackle when Kent was clean through in the second half, and another great block to deny the Rangers' winger once more.

Shane Duffy (CB) - 5/10 - Found out a bit defensively and often careless in possession.

Stephen Welsh (CB) - 7/10 - A surprise start for the Celtic academy graduate - his first since February and produced a thoroughly assured and solid performance.

2. Wing-Backs and Midfield

Diego Laxalt (LWB) - 6/10 - Making his debut following his move from Milan. Was penned in during the first half, but got forward more frequently in the second.

Callum McGregor (CM) - 7/10 - Provided Celtic's brightest moments, particularly in the second half, when he drove forward from deep.

Olivier Ntcham (CM) - 5/10 - Struggled against Rangers' dynamic midfield three, and was substituted just after the hour mark after failing to stamp his authority on the game.

Scott Brown (CM) - 6/10 - Mopped up at the back, won big headers, crunched into tackles and didn't lose his temper when Morelos clipped him around the ear.

Jeremie Frimpong (RWB) - 5/10 - Was unable to maraud forward as dangerously and as often as usual as he was often preoccupied with defensive duties - put pushed higher up in the second half.

3. Forwards

Patryk Klimala (ST) - 5/10 - Had a very quiet afternoon and was left to feed off scraps. Was substituted just after the hour mark.

Mohamed Elyounoussi (ST) - 5/10 - The winger was deployed in an unnatural striker role and squandered a golden opportunity after getting in behind the Rangers back line, but lifted the ball well over the bar.

4. Substitutes

Albian Ajeti - 6/10

Leigh Griffiths - 6/10

Tom Rogic - 5/10

David Turnbull - N/A

Greg Taylor - N/A

Rangers

5. Goalkeepers & Defenders

Allan McGregor (GK) - 6/10 - Had very little to do as Celtic failed to trouble the Rangers goal. Could have conceded a penalty after what looked like a foul on Griffiths, but the Celtic man stayed on his feet.

James Tavernier (RB) - 7/10 - Whipped in a wicked free kick that was flicked home by Goldson for Rangers' opening goal.

Filip Helander (CB) - 6/10 - Had very little to do defensively as Celtic hardly threatened the Rangers back line. Good on the ball as Rangers confidently built from the back.

Connor Goldson (CB) - 8/10 - Opened the scoring by evading the attentions of the Celtic backline and heading Tavernier's free kick home. Was fortunate to not be punished by Elyounoussi after a poor attempted clearance, but grabbed his second 54 minutes in, tucking home from close range.

Borna Barišić (LB) - 7/10 - Produced a superb run and even better delivery to pick out Kent in the second half as Rangers almost added a third.

6. Midfield

Steven Davis (CM) - 8/10 - Sharp and intelligent in possession as Rangers knocked the ball around with a real confidence and authority and completely overran Celtic in midfield.

Scott Arfield (CM) - 8/10 - Rangers were excellent in possession, and the midfield three were influential in this. Arfield was at the heart of the buildup for Ranger's second goal, perfectly picking out Goldson in the box after a flowing team move.

Glen Kamara (CM) - 8/10 - Cool and composed, demonstrated wonderful quick feet to work himself out of a tight space early in the first half. Carries the ball forward with such elegance.

7. Forwards

Brandon Barker (RW) - 7/10 - Dynamic, adventurous and exciting, constantly switching flanks with Kent and combining with the Rangers midfield during a series of slick moves.

Alfredo Morelos (ST) - 6/10 - Enjoyed a bit of s---housery, winding up Brown, producing a selection of niggling fouls and leaving a late arm in on Duffy.

Ryan Kent (LW) - 8/10 - Excellent from start to finish. An absolute nuisance down either flank, terrorising the Celtic back line with his quick feet and trickery.

8. Substitutes

Ryan Jack - 7/10

Cedric Itten - N/A

Joe Aribo - N/A
